Aligned with NEP 2020 & NCF (Foundational Stage)
Introduction
Kindergarten at Neevalay is a year of confident growth—where curiosity deepens into inquiry, independence becomes responsibility, and play evolves into purposeful learning.
Guided by NEP 2020 and the NCF for the Foundational Stage, we strengthen school readiness through developmentally appropriate experiences—without pressure or rote learning.
Our blended curriculum combines inquiry-led projects, hands-on materials, language-rich classrooms, and creative studios—so children think, communicate, create, and collaborate.
Guiding thought: If a child cannot learn the way we teach, we teach the way the child learns.
Our blended curriculum: NEP/NCF-aligned play-based learning + inquiry projects + Montessori-inspired hands-on materials + Reggio-inspired creative studios—thoughtfully adapted to each child’s readiness.

KG1 & KG2 — What changes as children grow
Both years follow the same blended foundation—what changes is the depth, length of work cycles, and complexity of thinking.
KG1 / LKG (4–5 years)
KG1 is a year of transformation. Children build longer focus, stronger independence, and begin connecting ideas across language, numbers, and inquiry. Learning remains playful—now with richer conversations and more thoughtful reflection.
- Early reading readiness: sounds, blending, vocabulary, comprehension through stories
- Writing readiness: strokes, grip, name writing, simple word building (as ready)
- Number sense: quantity, sequencing, patterns, comparisons, early operations through play
- Collaboration skills: shared projects, listening to peers, respectful conversations
KG2 / UKG (5–6 years)
KG2 builds Grade 1 readiness without pressure. Children strengthen fluency in communication, problem-solving, and self-management. They learn to persist, plan, and present their thinking with confidence.
- Reading confidence: phonics application, guided reading, storytelling and retelling
- Writing growth: sentence building, spacing, early punctuation (developmentally appropriate)
- Math reasoning: number operations readiness, measurement, shapes, data talk and logic games
- Leadership & responsibility: classroom roles, teamwork, empathy, and conflict resolution
